The Split Test Results Are In: and it’s probably not what you were expecting…

In a poll conducted on LinkedIn, we asked people to vote on which type of split test they thought would generate the most sales on Amazon. 78% of respondents on LinkedIn, voted for main images. It’s a smart guess but after running over 200 split tests across 20+ categories, our data has revealed that A+ Content testing actually has the highest potential for increased sales on Amazon.

So where should you start?

While you may have been tempted to start with main images or A+ given the insane potential for clicks and conversions, you have to remember it’s the heaviest lift and likely the most time intensive and expensive part of your listing to optimize.

The results below suggest title is the best place to start. Creating alternate titles with keywords that are converting well for you should be a simple split test to run for maximum gains of up to 589% increases in sales.

Next, while A+ Content shows the highest upside on returns of up to 1008% increases in sales, we’d still prioritize main images over A+ content purely because main images are the next lightest lift in terms of editing and testing in a swift manner. You can see up to a 160% increase in sales by testing and optimizing your main image and product image stack.

Lastly, designing strong and high quality Premium A+ content that performs well can be more challenging and time consuming so we recommend working on that last. While it’s the most difficult of the bunch you can expect to see the best returns when done well.

EVEN MORE IMPORTANT:

Don’t stop at one test, you should always be split testing through out the year.

It's also important have some context to our data set:

1️⃣ Our clients are mostly eCommerce brands with less than 50 skus doing less that 10 Million in annual sales on Amazon. Therefore, we've found that their listings for the most part are under optimized. Hence being able to squeeze value from title testing.

2️⃣ Most 7 and 8 figure sellers have usually optimized their title because it’s a lighter lift that most agencies can test easily with their PPC strategy so it’s usually optimized by the time we work with them.

3️⃣ WHY DON’T YOU SEE THESE RESULTS? Short answer: Maybe you are doing it wrong 😜 But moreover, we serve primarily eCommerce brands, not private label sellers, so we often times have incredible assets to work with. The content we create is high quality branded content (basically the opposite of Fiverr content). That in itself helps brands stand out and perform on Amazon.
